Last minute ideas from Michelle

Mish called me to say that DJ wants to do his room "army-style", so he's looking for ghillie nets for the ceiling, footlockers for clothing and toy storage, grass-like area rug or Ikea grassy floating tiles. Other ideas like camo curtains seem welcome too. MOST of all, however, would be activities with family members like John's idea of teaching DJ to play golf. That's the kind of positive reinforcement that would be outstanding. Love Bill / Dad

An idea for DJ

DJ is very active in scouts these days and enjoys camping and working on projects with his peers most of all. This can be very stressful for his clothing, especially his shoes. This weekend he wore his good school tennis shoes on the trip and coated them with mud. I would like to suggest contributions to a trip to a place like REI to get good, reliable, comfortable shoes for outdoor activities. Coordination should be thru Michelle. Love Bill

What Susan and I got him...and an idea

We got DJ a few pairs of good BSA hiking socks, a new mess kit, and a number of small things for his uniform. As an idea, he doesn't have the Boy Scout Fieldbook, and that would be helpful and interesting. Available on Amazon, or, more immediately, at the Scout Store at 807 Kinnear Rd. Ideas

DJ is proving very hard to shop for this year, the gifts he wants are not really things we would like in the house. I am trying to come up with some alternatives like GIft cards towards things or activities! He wants new sneakers and hiking boots. So gift cards to Dicks or foot locker or Amazon or REI he wears a women’s 10 shoe. The zipper on his leather jacked is not working so maybe help with going to a seamstress together? As an outing and a gift. He will only get his haircut by Mike at NiNi’s on bethel, so if they do gift cards that would be awesome! — Liz goes to Jackie at Kenneth’s He loves pistachios. He keeps asking for karate lessons. I really feel like one of the biggest things he needs is time with people. He is going through a lot with school, tough choices and new medications. I would welcome, and really appreciate things like coupons for him to go to lunch with family, or an hour of a sport together, or just bringing him over to play cards/ put together a puzzle and talk, cooking meals together, trips to the library. He is also seeking opportunities to earn money to save up for things, so if there are chores he can help with please feel free to ask him if he wants to help Thank you!! I hope this helps!!
